Week beginning March 20th. Fishing Gledfield beat
I had a good bit of early spring fishing over on the Gledfield beat last week, It was a very changeable week of weather and water levels.
I had a productive and enjoyable time for the two days and four mornings that i fished i managed to pick up 5 springers other than the Monday i had a springer each day weighing in at approx 10lb 9lb 8lb 8lb 5lbs The Gledfield pool produced 3 springers and 1 salmon each from Bridge and March pools.
I lost one salmon in Kennel run, and pulled three other salmon during the week. I had not seen a salmon show all week but saw three show over the last two days in Gledfield, Raven & Kennel run.The 5lb salmon was particularly unusual, sea liced in excellent condition and a lovely shape but probably the smallest springer i have ever caught.

Wed 1st March
Wed 1st March. I was invited by Mirabel Helme to fish the Oykel on the Wednesday 1st March the river like the Carron was very low possibly in comparison with Cornhill it was even a shade lower, I fished a little but it was great to catch up and have a great chat about the good old days as they say. I first Ghillied for Mirabel and her family 25 years ago now how time flys! It was a lovely day spent by the river with Mirabel and Georgie Ellis who came up with Mirabel.
