I fished the lower River Shin earlier this month for an afternoon and three evenings which was very enjoyable and managed to pick up 9 fish of these 8 were grilse and 1salmon.
I did play a big salmon of around 18lb in Big Clarig before the hook pulled out. A couple of hours earlier I had pulled a big fish in Big Clarig when I was fishing with Willie who saw the take. A lot of fish were pulled, usually a good indicator of running fish – particularly grilse.
I think the total for the week was around was around 20, mainly grilse.
