Quiet on the Salmon front but one springer lost on Cornhill

There has not been a lot to report the river conditions have not been great since the start of the season, we have had very erratic water levels rapidly going up and down and when their has been the chance of a cast on a steadying river the fishing conditions have been horrible with driving sleet and rain and flurries of snow and usually blowing a hoolie in to the bargain.  Quite a few kelts about around a month ago the very odd one still here but it just did not feel particularly fishy. Last week saw steadier conditions with some of the large amount of snow on the hills slowly melting and coming into the river over first 4 days of  the week the tail end of the week was colder on the tops and subsequently the river levels dropped . On the Tuesday the 3rd of March Allan Donaldson played a fresh springer and was probably about 3 or 4 minutes from landing it when it unfortunately threw the hook and was lost the river was running at 2 ft 2 inch the salmon was hooked in the Raven pool.

So this was a little bit of action in whats been a fairly quiet start it is early in the season yet but it has been pretty quiet on most rivers in the north, after the good season last year hopefully we will not have a lack of salmon as the season progresses, However we do have a distinct lack of toilet rolls for some in explicable reason!
