I have hardly fished the Kyle this season only had three very quick goes no more than two hours each time. However i did fish it again on on Monday 22nd of August and was delighted to get two lovely fresh grilse both of 5 lbs, the first of the two grilse was very memorable and was a landmark fish for me as it was the 1.700 hundredth salmon that i have caught so far in my lifetime, a couple of big drams went down very well that evening.
When i landed my first ever salmon way back 53 years ago in July 1969 and i can remember it very clearly, i never ever thought that i would reach a total like that. My first salmon was caught on a silver and copper toby spinning, and only one other was caught on a spinner on the River Moriston, all the other salmon 1,699 of them now were all caught fly fishing.
My second ever salmon also 1969 and my first ever on the Fly was caught on the River Orchy.
